Here, where towns safeguard stories that surface with every step you take
Cattolica is not just beaches and the sea: if you want to look beyond, gentle hills and small villages are waiting for you. For this reason, we have imagined a simple yet evocative itinerary, ideal for discovering Romagna in a more intimate and curious way.
The journey begins in Cattolica and quickly leads to San Giovanni in Marignano, the ancient “granary of the Malatesta family”; here, quiet streets and the remains of old fortifications tell stories of the past. A short distance away lies Saludecio, where murals decorating the houses turn the village into an open-air art gallery, while from above you can admire a wide, bright valley unfolding before your eyes.
The route then continues toward Mondaino, famous for its semicircular square, especially during the historical events that often bring the village to life. A little further on stands Montegridolfo, perfectly restored—a small medieval gem where the memory of the Second World War, recounted in the museum dedicated to the Gothic Line, adds depth and emotion to the visit.
Climbing further into the hills, Montefiore Conca appears, with its fortress rising majestically above the landscape. The journey continues to Gemmano, surrounded by greenery and close to the Onferno Caves, and then on to Montescudo, known for its traditions linked to winemaking and stone craftsmanship. Finally, you reach Morciano di Romagna, a lively town animated by shops and small eateries, perfect as a final stop before returning to Cattolica.
Along the way, we recommend stopping at one of the local wineries—Enio Ottaviani or Tenuta del Monsignore—where you can taste wines from the area and experience the authentic Romagna hospitality, the kind that turns every visit into a memory to take home with you.
